Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the status of the rural drinking water projects being implemented and under construction in the state.
In this meeting held on Tuesday at the conference hall in Lok Seva Bhavan, the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department presented the status of drinking water supply projects in the state.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary for the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water (PR & DW), S.N. Girish, along with the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Department from various districts, who presented information about the implementation and status of various projects.
Chief Secretary Garg has emphasized on resolving the problems of water supply to some areas in the implemented projects, ensuring drinking water supply to the people, and ensuring the speedy completion of the construction projects.
The meeting informed that extensive steps have been taken to ensure drinking water supply in the state. 18,233 projects have been implemented under the Single Village Piped Water Supply Project system and 872 are under implementation. Besides, 6,435 projects have been completed under the Solar Project and 2,189 projects are under implementation.
In the state, Jal Jeevan Mission, Vasudha, Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) approved in the SFC, 26 projects out of the total 207 mega projects and 181 are under construction.
The meeting reviewed the status of 134 projects that have been completed more than 50 per cent. The Chief Secretary conducted a detailed review in the presence of the Divisional Secretaries and Engineers to ascertain the reasons for the delay in completing various projects. Among them, the status of 15 mega projects in Rayagada district, 11 in Mayurbhanj district, and 10 in Sundargarh district, which are in the process of implementation, was reviewed.
Similarly, the status of the mega piped water supply projects in all other districts was reviewed and necessary instructions and suggestions were given to complete the projects. It has been suggested to complete various projects as per the set target. Regular inter-departmental reviews and action are being taken for the early completion of the projects, said the Commissioner and Secretary of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department.
