Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja has stressed the need for quality service delivery in governance and the increasing role of artificial intelligence in administrative processes.
Chairing an all-secretaries meeting at the conference room of Lok Seva Bhavan on Friday, he directed the Electronics and IT Department to work towards creating a research-based AI ecosystem to enhance governance efficiency and streamline service delivery.
Highlighting the importance of technology-driven governance, Ahuja urged all departments to ensure that services under the Right to Public Services Act are made available online within the stipulated time. Departments have been directed to report their service implementation status by February 15.
The meeting also reviewed the progress made since the last all-secretaries meeting in December and assessed the implementation of proposals from the 4th National Conference of Chief Secretaries.
During the discussions, Ahuja acknowledged the Central Government’s appreciation for Odisha’s successful hosting of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar and thanked all departments and partner institutions involved.
Further discussions included preparations for the upcoming Assembly session, a March meeting for Rath Yatra 2025 planning, and the presentation of draft vision documents for Vikshit Odisha-2036 and Vikshit Bharat-2047.
A central monitoring system developed by TPCODL for inspecting transformer operations up to the last supply point was also recommended for adoption by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, and Water Resources Department to enhance monitoring of piped drinking water supply and irrigation points.
Additionally, the Centre for Modernizing Government Initiatives demonstrated the “Meeting Decision Monitoring System (MDMS)” portal, designed to track and implement key decisions made at secretarial meetings. Ahuja encouraged secretaries to use this system for improved governance monitoring.
The meeting also advised the Cooperation Department to review the existing agricultural marketing system and propose necessary reforms to boost farmers’ earnings and streamline the distribution network.
