Puri: Senior IAS officer Pradeep Kumar Jena after officially assuming office as the Chief Secretary of Odisha today, visited the Shree Jagannatha Temple in Puri to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath and seek his blessing.
On Jena’s arrival at the Singhadwar, he was welcomed and ushered inside the temple by officials of the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) and sevayats (servitors) of the temple.
The Chief Secretary first had darshan of Lord Jagannatha and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra and later had darshan of Devi Bimala, Maa Lakshmi and other subsidiary deities in the temple complex.
Jena made offerings to the deities and partook ‘Mahaprasada’. He was accompanied by his wife during the visit to the temple.
Speaking to reporters, Jena said that the blessing of the ‘Mahaprabhu’ is indispensable.
He said he sought the blessings of the Mahaprabhu to be able to effectively discharge his duties to the best of his abilities for the development of the people of Odisha.
