Bhubaneswar: Given President Droupadi Murmu’s forthcoming visit to Odisha from February 28 to March 2, Chief Secretary PK Jena on Thursday held a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to review administrative preparedness for the visit.
Murmu is scheduled to attend different programmes in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur during her visit to the State.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Secretaries of different concerned departments, In-charge DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi, other senior police officials and senior officials of concerned departments.
Special Secretary of Home Department Santosh Bala informed about President Murmu’s different programmes in Odisha at the meeting.
Among the prominent programmes the President will attend are the laying of foundation stones and launching of various projects in Rairangpur on February 28, a visit to Maa Kichakeswari Temple on February 29 morning, the inauguration of a national-level seminar organised on the tribes of Keonjhar at Dharanidhar University in Keonjhar. On the same day in the afternoon, Murmu will attend the 53rd Convocation Ceremony of Utkal University at Bhubaneswar.
On March 1, the President will attend the 25th Convocation Ceremony of Berhampur University. On March 2, the President will visit Sambalpur and attend various programmes.
From the arrival of the President in Odisha to participation in various programmes till her return to New Delhi, elaborate security and other related preparations by the state administration and the concerned district administration were discussed in detail at the meeting.
Collectors and SPs of the concerned districts attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Since the President has multiple programmes in different places, Chief Secretary Jena has given necessary instructions and advice to the Collectors and SPs of the concerned districts to examine all the places well in advance study all the arrangements and prepare accordingly.
The President’s stay during the visit, security arrangements, publication and broadcast of the program in the media, healthcare and treatment, ambulance, supervision of the maintenance of the roads leading to the event site, and sanitation of the roads were discussed in the meeting.
Instructions have been issued to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all locations where events will be held.
Provision of drinking water, seating arrangements, barricading arrangements, necessary pass arrangements, provision of facilities for providing live broadcast of the programme to the media by the Information and Public Relations department at the venue, Internet access to the venue, and fire fighting arrangement were discussed extensively in the meeting.
A control room will function on behalf of the Home Department to manage the President’s visit smoothly.
