Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Ruchika Social Service Organisation (also referred to as Ruchika Samaj Welfare Association) successfully rescued a child labourer from being trafficked via train at Bhubaneswar Railway Station.
The minor, hailing from Bihar, was intercepted while being transported to Bengaluru for exploitative work. Acting on a tip-off, the RPF swung into during routine checks on the train or platform, preventing the child from reaching the destination where forced labour awaited.
The rescued child was immediately produced before the Khurda Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for further protection, rehabilitation, and legal proceedings as per child rights protocols. The CWC will oversee the child’s safe repatriation to family, counselling, and any necessary support under the Juvenile Justice Act and anti-trafficking guidelines.
Investigations are underway to trace the traffickers and dismantle the route.
