Jharsuguda: A team of Childline officials, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) squad and police personnel averted a child marriage at Kantapali village in Jharsuguda district on Sunday.

Reportedly, the Childline had received information about a minor girl from Bolangir district being married to a boy at Junadihi village of Jharsuguda. Later, the family members of the groom changed the marriage venue.

Acting on a tip off, the team had conducted a raid at the new venue and rescued the girl. While the groom fled from the spot, police detained his elder brother for interrogation.
