**Khurda:** As many as 15 children in the age group of 3 and 5 were admitted to the Khurda District Headquarters Hospital on Tuesday morning, after they complained of acute nausea.
The children, admitted to the DHH, are students of the local Anganwadi centre at Aaseli village in Nirakarpur area under Lendo Panchayat.
According to the family members, around 20 children had consumed sprouts, which were distributed to them along with the mid-day meal on Monday at the Anganwadi centre.
Soon after returning home in the afternoon, all of them complained of nausea and vomiting. The families rushed their children to the nearby Nirakarpur community health centre from where 15 children were shifted to the DHH, after their condition deteriorated.
”The children are suffering from dysentery and are vomiting frequently. We suspect the sprouts were contaminated which led to a food infection,” the mother of a three-year-old said.
The children are being administered drips and injectable drugs. Their condition is improving, the doctors said.
