Bhubaneswar: A severe cold wave has gripped Odisha, with 25 places recording night temperatures below 10°C today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD data, G. Udayagiri is the chilliest place in the state, with a temperature of 2.6°C, followed by Rourkela at 3.6°C and Semiliguda at 4.1°C. Other places experiencing intense cold include Jharsuguda (4.6°C), Phulbani (5°C), and Daringbadi (6°C).
The cold wave has also affected major cities, with Bhubaneswar recording a temperature of 9.4°C, Cuttack at 8.6°C, and Sambalpur at 9.2°C.
Sundargarh was shivering at 6.5°C, while Angul was just a notch above at 7°C. Nabarangapur had hovered around 7.5°C, with Dhenkanal and Bhawanipatna not far behind at 7.6°C and 7.8°C, respectively.
Keonjhar had experienced a chilly 7.9°C, with Balangir at 8.1°C and Ranital at 8.4°C. The twin cities of Cuttack and Baripada had both recorded 8.6°C, while Mahisapat was slightly warmer at 8.9°C. Sonepur was at 9°C, with Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar following closely at 9.2°C and 9.4°C, respectively. Koraput was at 9.5°C, and the mercury had settled at 10°C in Boudh, Nuapada, and Bargarh.
