Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch is to conduct lie detection tests of suspects in connection with the murder of Chittaranjan Palei, a close aide of State Planning Board Deputy Chairman and senior BJD leader Sanjay Kumar Dasburma.
Crime Branch ADG Sanjeeb Panda, addressing mediapersons at the office of Puri SP today, said that they are probing all angles in the case but they can’t reveal the details now.
Notably, Chittaranjan’s body had been fished out of Nuanai river at Gadamrugasira village on Monday (December 13) with multiple injury marks. His uncle Purna Chandra said that he suspects Jaga, a friend of Chittaranjan, for his nephew’s death.
While Puri SP had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Puri Additional SP PC Pradhan to probe the case, Chittaranjan’s family members had demanded a probe by the Crime Branch.
Odisha DGP Abhay on Wednesday (December 15) ordered a Crime Branch probe into the death of Chittaranjan. Subsequently, a four-member team of the State Crime Branch took over the investigation of the case.
The Crime Branch had yesterday visited the rented residence of the prime suspect Jaga at Matiapada in Puri.
