Rayagada: The death toll due to cholera outbreak in Kashipur block of Rayagada district has gone up to eight while 120 persons have been hospitalised.
After the Regional Medical and Research Centre (RMRC) diagnosed the diarrhoea causing bacteria in Kashipur block of Rayagada district as Vibrio Cholera, the district administration activated the treatment protocol.
The medical service has been divided in four sections for treating patients. Meanwhile, three mobile health units have been deployed in Guguput, Dengagud and Ramaguda villages.
More than 120 cholera patients are being treated at three separate health centres in Kashipur and Tikiri. Two temporary medical camps have been set up in Mandipisi and Dangalisi villages in Kashipur.
Women health workers, Anganwadi, and Asha workers have been asked to raise awareness among people about drinking hot water, eating hot cooked food and hand washing. Doctors and female health workers are visiting house to house to check on people’s health and provide medication.
