Christ College Student Suicide Case: Deceased’s Father Demands Son’s Girlfriend’s Arrest

Cuttack: A shattered, Hrushikesh Sahoo, father of Christ College student Tusharkanta Sahoo who had committed suicide by jumping into the river from the Dhabaleswar bridge today demanded the arrest of his son’s girlfriend and her elder sister.

“My son’s girlfriend and her elder sister are the prime accused. My son is not going to return but I will get some peace after these two are arrested and get punished. The truth will come out when these two are arrested and then interrogated,” said Sahoo speaking to reporters on his reaction on the arrest of two persons on charges of abetment of suicide.

The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested two youths Jubu alias Dibyaranjan Behera (26) and Kaushal Pradhan (20) on charges of abetment of suicide of Christ College student Tusharkanta.

Tusharkanta, aged 19 years, a student of Plus II Commerce in Christ College had committed suicide by jumping into the river from Dhabaleswar bridge on August 3 this year.

ACP Zone-I Cuttack Amarendra Panda briefing reporters on Monday had told that Tusharkanta had developed intimacy with a girl studying in Plus II in his college (Christ College).

Panda had added that the two had some dispute over the issue.

The ACP had stated that the girl and her elder sister, boyfriend of the girl’s elder sister and her foster brother had constantly subjected Tusharkanta to physical and mental torture for 2-3 months which had incited the latter to commit suicide.
