Bhubaneswar: A group of Christian nuns and priests who were stopped by locals in Balasore district on suspicion of conducting forced conversions were rescued by local police. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the group was returning from Gangadhar village in the Basta area of Balasore.
Basta Police Station officials said that the locals had stopped the vehicles of the nuns and priests, suspecting them of carrying out forced religious conversions. However, after police intervention, the group was rescued without any harm.
The locals released the nuns and priests after being convinced that they had visited the village to attend the death anniversary of a man. Notably, no complaint has been lodged by the nuns and priests against the individuals who stopped them.
