Sundargarh: Tension gripped the area around NTPC Super Thermal Power Plant at Darlipali in Sundargarh district on Tuesday after allegations surfaced that CISF jawans assaulted a group of workers, leaving eight of them injured.
The injured workers have been admitted to Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from accusations of theft against a youth inside the plant premises. Under the pretext of interrogation, CISF personnel allegedly thrashed eight workers.
The injured workers have been identified as Laba Bhoi, Sumara Munda, Mansir Naik, Hrushikesh Kharsel, Vikash Gandha, Ishwari Prasad Meher, Ranjan Naik, and Bhisma Dhrua.
The victims, while lodging a complaint at the Darlipali police station, alleged that they were subjected to a brutal assault without any justification. The incident has triggered unrest among workers in the area, with demands for strict action against those responsible.
Police are investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
