Bhubaneswar: Leading social organization ‘Citizen Wave Media’ organized the ‘Swachh Odisha, Sukhi Odisha’ Walkathon on Saturday to promote social awareness and civic responsibility. The event was held in collaboration with the Consumer Welfare and Legal Compliance Commission, Government of India.
The walk, themed ‘Cleanliness is the basis of health and prosperity’, began at Nico Park in Bhubaneswar and concluded at Gate No. 3 of Kalinga Stadium. Chief Guest Prithviraj Harichandan, Minister of Law, Works and Excise, inaugurated the program, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness for a healthy life.
A diverse group of participants, including students, youth, sportspersons, senior citizens, and celebrities, joined the walkathon, spreading the message of cleanliness and healthy living. Notable participants included Neelima R. Patra, State Director of Consumer Welfare and Legal Compliance Commission, Olympian Dutee Chand, and former MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.
‘Newsroom’ served as the official media partner for the event.
Manoranjan Mishra, Founding Editor of ‘Newsroom’, highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “Every person should walk 10,000 steps every day and keep their surroundings healthy. This walkathon marks the beginning of a long-term social campaign.”
