Jajpur: A traditional pala performance turned violent in Kasaba village under Thalakudi panchayat in Dasarathapur block of Jajpur district, leaving more than 10 people injured.
According to reports, the clash broke out on Monday night between two rival groups from Bautra Sahi and Jia Sahi during the concluding night of a three-day Pala event organised at the Kasaba Pala Mandap.
Members of both groups allegedly pelted stones and glass bottles at each other and also used sticks as weapons. The sudden violence brought the cultural programme to an abrupt halt. Several villagers sustained injuries in the stone-pelting and scuffle. The injured are being undergoing treatment at Mangalpur hospital and Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital.
Mangalpur police have been deployed to maintain law and order situation.
