Bhubaneswar: At least four people were critically injured after a clash broke out between two groups over temple donation collections in Chandibasta village under Town police limits in Nayagarh district on Monday.
The injured are undergoing treatment at two different hospitals.
The victims have been identified as Somnath Palei, his father Budhia Palei and his grandmother Susila Palei.
According to reports, villagers were raising funds to organise a puja at the Shani temple. While counting the collected money, another group arrived, demanding not to organize the event. This led to a heated argument ensued, which escalated into violence.
The second group allegedly attacked Somnath’s family with deadly weapons, leaving them severely injured.
Initially, the injured were treated at the Nayagarh Community Health Centre, but three of them were later transferred to Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Upon receiving a tip-off, police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation, revealing that the clash stemmed from a previous enmity between the groups.
