Puri: An 8-year-old boy drowned in a village pond while bathing in Gangapur village in Kakatpur-Astaranga area of Odisha’s Puri district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Debi Prasad Dash, a student of Class II.
According to reports, the boy went to a nearby pond to bathe before going to school on Thursday. However, when his family members did not find him before his school timing, they searched for the boy in the house and neighbourhood.
After some time some people spotted the body of the boy floating on the water of the pond. The villagers fished out the boy’s body and rushed him to the Bangurigan health center, where the doctors pronounced him brought dead.
