Bhubaneswar: A class IX student of Santaragadia High School under Nilgiri police limits in Balasore district sustained severe injuries after allegedly being attacked by a group of fellow students over a football match dispute.

The injured student has been identified as Abhiram, son of Jaydev Das of Barudkhana village. He is currently undergoing treatment at Fakir Mohan Medical College in critical condition.

According to reports, the incident occurred three days after a football match between students, with Abhiram being targeted by 4-5 students from section B. The students allegedly beat Abhiram severely, leaving him to writhe in pain.

Labourers working on the school grounds intervened and rescued Abhiram, who was then taken to Santaragadia Health Centre and later referred to FM Medical College.

The incident has sparked allegations of inaction of school authorities, with claims that no concrete steps have been taken despite the incident.
