Bhubaneswar: A Class-IX student was found hanging in a hostel bathroom at Padmapur in Bargarh district Tuesday night.
Identified as Prince Kumbhar of Jhankarapali village under Melachamunda police limits, Prince was residing in a hostel named Anwesa and pursuing his education. Though he was found dead in the hostel bathroom last night, his family members termed it foul play demanding an investigation to unravel the mystery behind Prince’s death.
According to the hostel superintendent, Prince went to his room after having dinner last night. Later, he locked himself inside the hostel bathroom. Despite several knockings by his friends, he did not open the door. The hostel authorities broke open the bathroom door and found him hanging. He was immediately rescued and rushed to Padmapur Sub-divisional Hospital where he was declared dead.
On a tip-off, police have reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
Prince’s uncle said, “We got a call from hostel authorities at 10 pm last night asking us to reach the hostel. Later, the authorities again rang me asking me to reach the Padmapur Sub-Divisional Hospital. To our utter surprise, we found him lying dead in the hospital bed. He has not committed suicide. It was not a suicide but a murder.”
