Bhubaneswar: A Class-IX student was rescued from the Mahanadi River sometime after she jumped from the Marjakud bridge to the river in Boudh district, on Friday.
As per reports, the girl had placed her slippers on the bridge and suddenly jumped into the river. Locals who were present at the scene raised an alarm. A few passersby sprang into action to save the girl student who had jumped into the River in a desperate bid.
After searching for some time, the girl was rescued from the river and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. However, the reason behind her attempt to jump into the river is still unknown.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
