Rayagada: A Class X student of Government High School, being run by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) at Gatiguda allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan under Bissam Cuttack in Rayagada district, on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bubul, son of Mohan Kurkuria of Kurli village.
As per reports, tension ran high on the hostel premises following the death of Bubul with his family calling it a pre-planned murder.
Upon being informed, Bissam Cuttack Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Santoshini Oram and Bissam Cuttack Police Inspector Suryachanndra Padhee rushed to the spot and seized the body. Police, meanwhile, began an investigation to determine whether it was a suicide case or murder case.
Based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s family, police have roped in a forensic team and sniffer dogs to investigate the case.
It is learnt that Bubul did not attend classes today citing health reasons. When his classmates opened the door in the afternoon, he was found hanging.
His classmates informed the school authorities who subsequently intimated the police about the incident. The police are, meanwhile, reviewing the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
