Nuapada: In a shocking incident, around 22 Class XII students of Navodaya Vidyalaya at Tarbod in Odisha’s Nuapada district reportedly roughed up Class X students of the school after allegations that the latter passed adverse remarks against senior students on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day celebration on Thursday.
According to reports, Class XII students of the school visited the classroom of Class X as teachers and when some junior students passed adverse comments against their seniors triggering a controversy.
Once the Teachers’ Day celebration was over, the senior students summoned the juniors in the hostel and brutally assaulted them with iron rods, belts and other objects resulting in injuries to 22 students.
On Friday, agitated Class X students staged a demonstration demanding the suspension of the seniors involved in the incident. Parents of the Class X students alleged that the Principal, House master, and night watcher were responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, JNV Principal DV Raman said, “The incident occurred around midnight. We came to know that some Class XII students assaulted some Class X students at the boys’ hostel. There are injury marks on the students. We have already suspended the guilty Class XII students and will bring the matter to the notice of higher authorities for appropriate action.”
