Jeypore: A moving car carrying five passengers suddenly caught fire near Dumuriput road connecting Koraput and Sunabeda.
All five passengers managed to escape unhurt.
According to reports, thick smoke was emanating from the car engine which was noticed by another car driver who raised an alarm.
The car driver immediately parked it beside the road and all the passengers got down. Meanwhile, the vehicle burst into a blaze.
The fire department was called after the incident and the fire tender unit responded promptly to the emergency call and extinguished the blaze.
However, the car was completely gutted by the time the fire services personnel started operation.
The exact reason of the fire remains unclear. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit was likely to be the cause of the fire.
