**Bhubanewar:** The Odisha Government is closely watching the rain and flood like situation at all the districts of the State.
Talking to media, SRC Bishnupad Sethi informed, ” 25 gates have been opened as of now and the water flow at Munduli is 6.5 lakh cusec. We are expecting an increase in the water.”
Due to the increase in water level, Sonepur- Birmaharajpur road near Pitambar gram panchayat and Bijepur were cut off but the communication has been restored. Apart from that, water was flowing above the Chanagudi canal bridge of Athmallik, Purunamantri was also under water logging. But, habitation has not been disturbed in these places, he added.
The backwater of Hirakud Dam have heavily affected Chikili and Antarani villages of Ambahana block. Meanwhile, situation in Sambalpur district is normal.
On the inflow and outflow of the water at Hirakud Dam, the SRC informed that the inflow is 4.49 lakh cuses while outflow is 4.10 lakh cusec. 25 gates open and till 9 am the flow at Mundali is 6.4 lakh cusec. Monitoring is being made round the clock. There is nothing to panic, the SRC said.
The SRC further added, “We are keeping an eye at the flood situations at each and every districts. All the district collectors and authorities are keeping a close watch and we are monitoring it for 24 hours.”
He also informed that situation has not arisen anywhere to evacuate people or start relief operations.
The required boats and crew, ODRAF team, Fire Services personnel are ready for action and if such a situation comes up, we are ready to tackle that, SRC assured.
He also informed that two gates of Balimela reservoir were opened yesterday following which 20,000 cusec water is being released there. The people of three gram panchayats Doraguda, Ghunthawada and Nuagarh have been alerted. Tehsildar, BDO and other state government officials are present there. If warranted, the people will be evacuated to safe shelters.
