Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced distribution of relief materials in flood affected areas of five districts. The CM surveyed islands in Luna and Chitrapotla rivers in Kendrapara district, islands in Paika river, Kujang and Naugaon in Jagatsinghpur district, and Gop, Nimapara, Astarang, Delang, Pipili, and Kanas in Puri district, aerially.
Following the aerial survey, the CM announced relief, cooked food, medical care, drinking water, and other necessary amenities immediately for the affected areas. Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian accompanied the Chief Minister during the survey.
For the people in the flood-affected areas of Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur, 15 days of relief will be disbursed on priority basis. Similarly, seven days relief will be facilitated immediately for Boudh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul and Sonepur districts.
Once the flood water recedes, an assessment will be done within 7 days on house, crop and other damages. Following the survey, during the next 15 days, the financial assistance will be provided to the affected population, the CM announced.
