Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the proposed master plan for the development of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla.
By 2026, arrangements will be made for more than 10,000 students to study in 24 undergraduate departments in this institution. A total of Rs 2000 crore will be spent for the purpose in three phases.
It may be mentioned here that on last August 25, Chief Secretary, Secretary to CM(5T) on the instructions of the Chief Minister visited Burla and advised to prepare a master plan to develop it as a Center of Excellence.
According to the master plan, it will be developed as a Multi-Disciplinary Engineering & Research University by 2030.
It will be at par with the premier engineering institutes of the country like IITs and NITs. It will have 7 schools like School of Engineering, Skill Development Centre, School of Medical Technology and School of Basic Science.
In accordance with the master plan, arrangements will be made for 10,864 students to study in this institution. Currently, 2, 849 students are studying in various courses.
In the 7 schools, 24 engineering programs, more than 14 departments and more than 27 centers of excellence will be established.
Each school will have classrooms, laboratories, professors’ chambers and galleries. State-of-the-art research centers and laboratory facilities will be available in all schools.
Each Center of Excellence will be partnered with the industry and at least one alumni will take over as mentor.
With this, each Center of Excellence can act as a state-of-the-art research and consultancy center for industries and also as a nodal center for rural and urban development.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed to complete construction of all smart classrooms within 3 months.
The hostel and other general repairs will be completed immediately and the institution will be provided with a 24-hour power supply.
The Chief Minister discussed this with the Chancellor and Professors of the university. They all praised the transformation work and promised to work with commitment for it
