Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has decided to establish a state-of-the-art library at Badambadi near Puri-Anugul bus stand in Cuttack in memory of the eminent freedom fighter and socialist leader Bishwanath Pandit. For this, the Chief Minister has also approved an expenditure proposal of Rs 30,58,31,100.
During the visit of 5T Secretary VK Pandian to Cuttack, the state government took the decision to establish a state-of-the-art library in Cuttack in memory of the late Bishwanath Pandit.
The library will also have a large reading hall. The stilt plus 3-floor library will have a 100-capacity auditorium, cafeteria, ample parking area apart from a wide stock of books, and a conducive environment for learning. Students can also prepare for various competitive exams there.
It is worth noting that the late Bishwanath Pandit was born in Dagarpada, Cuttack. He joined the freedom struggle and went to jail. Later, he joined the socialist movement and fought for the protection of the interests of the downtrodden, workers, and laborers throughout his life.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the establishment of a library in his name would give due respect to the late Pandit’s memory and inspire the public, especially the youth, to be aware of his contribution.
