Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a minor in a boat capsize at a Mania ghat in Kendrapara district on Thursday and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased. Along with this, he directed the Kendrapara District Collector to pay the amount to his family by this evening.
It is worth mentioning here that a minor drowned, while another missing after a boat capsized in the Brahmani river in the Aul area of Kendrapara district in Odisha on Thursday morning.
According to reports, around 30 people and 10 bikes were aboard the country boat when it capsized in the early hours of Thursday. The mishap took place when the ill-fated boat was on its way from Ekamania to Keradagarh of Rajnagar. After covering some distance, the boat lost control and capsized, sources informed.
