Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Jagannath Sanskruti Gallery at ‘Kala Bhoomi’, Odisha Crafts Museum at Gandamunda here on Friday. The gallery has art and artifacts depicting Jagannath culture including Pattachitra, ‘Kata’, Pipili Chandua, Terracota, Solapitha, and traditional metal items, etc.
Six ‘Beshas’ of Lord Jagannath are on display at the newly inaugurated gallery. The centre of attraction is the Lord’s rare ‘Raghunath Besha’, which was last witnessed at Puri in 1905. Besides, two ancient dance forms -Mahari and Gotipua are also displayed here.
Apart from this, Pattachitra Art inside Jagannath temple, Aruna Stambha and Meghanad Pachery also caught attention of the audience at the inaugural event. Portraits depicting Rath Yatra, construction of chariots and Nabakalebara are also on display.
Among others, Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and Padmini Dian, MLAs AN Jena and Susant Rout, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Chief Advisor to CM R Balakrishnan, and Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian were present on the occasion.
