Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated State Animal Helpline, tele-veterinary service and fisheries and animal husbandry mapping, under the aegis of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Department. On the occasion, Naveen urged people to be sympathetic and help deserted and stray animals.
The State Animal Helpline – 1962 or 155333, will be functional 24/7 and people can avail all necessary help pertaining to animals through this service. Similarly, through tele-veterinary, the animal resources of the State will be healthy, which would ultimately support the farmers.
The CM also launched Fisheries and Animal Resource Mapping, a 5-T Initiative. Under this, all fishing and farming units in the State will be geotagged and mapped and made available on the WEB-GIS platform.
The State signed an MoU with BAIF Institute for the recruitment of 1,500 artificial insemination technicians. This apart, a hatchery will be established at Gopalpur for Bhekti fish farming.
The programme was coordinated by Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian. Among others, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena Fisheries, Agriculture Production Commissioner Sanjeev Chopra and ARD Secretary R Raghuprasad were present.
