Bhubaneswar: The CM Kisan Yojana initiative alone has increased the annual income of registered farmers by at least ₹38,000. When combined with ₹10,000 from the Subhadra Yojana and ₹10,000 from the PM and CM Kisan yojanas, farmers’ annual income has risen by at least ₹58,000. Since most Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries belong to farmer families, this reflects the government’s strong commitment to their welfare, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a state-level event on the occasion of Nuakhai, organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment at Krushi Shiksha Sadan, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, he disbursed the third installment of the CM Kisan Scheme for the Rabi season 2025-26, amounting to ₹1,041.29 crore, directly to the bank accounts of 51,54,115 small and marginal farmers, landless families, ST communities and urban farmers through DBT.
Majhi also inaugurated a ‘Krushak Bhawan’ and a Reception Centre of the Krushi Sikshya Sadan at OUAT, built at a cost of nearly ₹59 crore. He announced that an extension of the farmer registration period under the scheme would be declared soon.
Highlighting his government’s priorities, Majhi said that soon after assuming office, the first Cabinet meeting had approved the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, under which farmers received ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy procurement. A record 92.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured under the scheme, he said.
Over 18 lakh farmers have registered under the Krushak Samruddhi Yojana this year, and the CM assured that no eligible farmer would be left out. He also underlined the support extended to landless farmers, who are provided ₹12,500 in three installments for allied activities such as goat rearing, poultry, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and dairy farming.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s focus on crop diversification, crop insurance under PMFBY, and potato cultivation to make Odisha self-reliant. He also highlighted schemes to promote cold storage facilities, agri-entrepreneurship, and scholarships under the Krushi Vidyadhan Yojana, under which ₹53.69 crore was disbursed last year to over 13,900 students of CM Kisan beneficiaries pursuing higher education in premier institutions.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Gokulananda Mallik, Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Babu Singh, Principal Secretary of the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department Suresh Kumar Vashishth, OUAT Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pravat Kumar Roul, Director of Horticulture, Director of Soil Conservation, and several senior officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.
Over 600 farmers from across the state and 200 OUAT students actively participated. The program was livestreamed across 30 districts, with district-level events held in the presence of ministers, MPs, MLAs, public representatives, district collectors, and officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DA&FE).
Principal Secretary, DA&FE Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee delivered the welcome address, while Director of Agriculture and Food Production, Odisha, Shubham Saxena, gave the vote of thanks.
