Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a 10% reservation and 5-year age relaxation for Agniveers in uniform services in Odisha.
The CM made the announcement at a press conference at Lokseva Bhawan before leaving for Delhi to attend NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting.
According to the CM, the reservation and age relaxation aim to support the Agniveers, who have served the nation through the Agneepath scheme. This move is expected to benefit a large number of Agniveers seeking to join uniform services in the state.
The CM said that soldiers who have joined the Indian Army are the pride of the country. “Our Agniveers are also well trained in the army and qualified to play important roles in various defence sectors.
He further said that Agniveer Scheme is a historic initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji. This initiative has made our youth able and fearless, so that they can face various challenges in life, he added.
That is why, the Chief Minister said, Odisha Government has decided to recruit Agniveers in the state’s uniformed services, he added.
