CM Majhi Announces Rs 1 Cr Aid For Cuttack Kamalakant High School

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Kamalakant Government High School in Cuttack, where he announced a Rs 1 crore assistance from the Chief Minister Special Assistance (CMSA) for the construction of the Diamond Jubilee Hall. Majhi called the school a beacon of knowledge, highlighting its 60-year contribution to education in the region.

 During the event, Majhi outlined plans to upgrade the school’s infrastructure, including its inclusion in the PM Shri Yojana, construction of a mini stadium, and building a two-storey structure to meet the school’s needs. He emphasised the importance of providing students with necessary facilities and opportunities, stating that this is a basic and moral duty of any government.

The Chief Minister also discussed the government’s initiatives to reform education, including the development of 762 schools as model schools under the PMShri scheme and the implementation of the ‘Nipun Odisha’ initiative to enhance basic education.Additionally, he mentioned the Heritage School Scheme, aimed at preserving and reconstructing old schools, and the ‘Asa School Jiba’ campaign to identify out-of-school children.

Majhi highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening primary education, with a record allocation of over Rs 31,000 crore in the current budget.He also announced plans to fill 44,433 teacher posts in the next three years, with about 15,000 posts to be filled every year, and regularise primary teachers and schematic teachers on six-year contracts.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated all the senior teachers of the school and unveiled the diamond jubilee souvenir of the school. Cuttack MP Dr. Bhatruhari Mahtab delivered the welcome speech while social worker Nayan Kishore Mohanty proposed the vote of thanks.

Among others, MLA, Cuttack-Sadar, Prakash Chandra Sethi, MLA Cuttack-Chaudwar, Souvik Biswal, headmistress of the school, Subhadarshini Nanda were present on the occasion..
