Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the family of young journalist Ramakant Mahanand, who tragically lost his life in a road accident in Reirakhol area of Sambalpur.
The Chief Minister expressed deep grief and condoled with the family, directing the compensation to be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
Mahananda, Rairakhol correspondent of a local news channel, was on way to Nakatideula to cover news when his motorcycle collided with a culvert.
He suffered grievous injuries and was rushed to the nearby hospital by locals. He was later shifted to VIMSAR, Burla. However, he succumbed during treatment.
