Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of three labourers who died in a road accident near Rekula Satsanga Kendra under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Dhenkanal district, in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, a dumper truck ran over the labourers, who were then crushed by a road roller and an electric pole. Firefighters and residents rushed to the scene, cutting through the wreckage with gas cutters to rescue the trapped labourers.

The mishap took place when the road construction work was underway.

Blaming the road construction agency for the road mishap, local villagers blocked the Kamakhyanagar-Dhenkanal road and demanded adequate compensation for the families of the deceased labourers and better working conditions. The road blockade has disrupted traffic flow in the area.
