Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday met with representatives of the Adivasi Mahasangha, Odisha, at Lok Seva Bhawan to deliberate on pressing issues concerning the state’s tribal population and their holistic development.
During the meeting, members of the Mahasangha submitted a series of proposals aimed at improving the welfare of the Adivasi community across the state.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the all-round development of Adivasis remains a top priority for his government. Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on the upliftment of the poor—including tribal communities—Majhi said both the Centre and the state are committed to the socio-economic advancement of Adivasis.
Highlighting recent initiatives, the Chief Minister announced that the government will soon constitute the North Odisha Development Council and South Odisha Development Council to accelerate development in tribal-dominated regions.
He also called upon the Mahasangha to help eradicate superstitions from Adivasi society and reiterated that all concerns raised would be addressed through dialogue.
The meeting was attended by ST & SC Development Minister Nityananda Gond, Nabarangpur MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi, Mahasangha President Karma Lakra, General Secretary Sarat Chandra Nayak, and representatives from around 11 districts.
