Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday marked Partition Horrors Remembrance Day by attending a programme at Raj Bhavan, Odisha, where he called for strengthening unity and safeguarding the future of the nation.

In a message shared on X, Majhi described the day as not only a time to remember the pain of partition and displacement but also an opportunity to reaffirm the pledge to protect India’s unity. “Partition has taught us an important lesson: borders may divide a country, but no one can divide hearts. Humanity is greater than religion, language, or caste,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister emphasised that India’s strength lies in its tradition of tolerance, brotherhood, love, and mutual respect, values that no external force can diminish. Paying tribute to those who suffered during the partition, he said their sacrifice gave rise to a new dream of unity, urging citizens to carry forward that vision and contribute to building a developed and sovereign India.
