Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the incident of the burning of a statue of the great leader Biju Patnaik in Patnagarh, Balangir district.

The CM stated that the person involved in this act must certainly be a despicable individual with a sick mentality. He has directed the police to take strict action in this matter. So far, one person has already been arrested in connection with the incident. If there is any conspiracy behind this act, the Chief Minister has firmly instructed that it must be thoroughly investigated, he asserted.

The CM emphasized that the state government respects all its eminent personalities and has always taken steps to honor them. He personally holds deep respect for Biju Babu and recalled that the state had recently celebrated Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary with great enthusiasm on March 5, where he himself participated in paying tribute. Biju Babu’s death anniversary will also be observed on April 17.
