Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Odisha Police Team for their outstanding performance at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 in Birmingham, USA.
The team won a total of 20 medals, comprising 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, making it a historic achievement for the police department, the state, and the nation.
Taking to his X handle, CM wrote: “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Odisha Police Team for their exceptional sporting prowess, winning 20 medals at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 held in Birmingham, United States of America. With 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, this historic achievement is a matter of pride for the Police Department, the entire nation, and the state. Wishing you a bright future and continued progress.”
Constable Ashok Dandasena won two gold medals in the men’s category of 5000 meters and 10000 meters and a silver medal in the 400×400 relay. He had earlier won gold medals in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races.
Constable Sabita Toppo won the gold medal in the 100m hurdles and the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles of the women’s section. Constable Sushmita Tiga won the bronze medal in the 400x400m relay of the women’s section and had earlier won the gold medal in the 1500m race and the silver medal in the 800m race.
The determination, strength, and hard work of these young players have brought glory to Odisha Police. State Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania congratulated the young sportsmen on their success and wished them a bright future.
