Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday congratulated young weightlifter Preetismita Bhoi from Dhenkanal for winning the gold medal in the 44 kg category at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Majhi wrote, “Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Odia sportsperson Preetismita Bhoi for winning the gold medal in the 44 kg category and setting a new world record in the clean and jerk at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. Her remarkable performance is a matter of pride and honour for both the state and the country. I wish Preetismita a bright future and continued success.”

Preetismita, who will turn 17 in November, trains at the Weightlifting High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium. She also set new Asian and World records in the clean and jerk event with an impressive 92 kg lift.
Her achievement has brought immense pride to Odisha and India, marking yet another milestone in the state’s growing prominence in the field of weightlifting.
