Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida paid heartfelt tributes to the two towering leaders of India’s history.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to honor the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, calling him “the symbol of truth and non-violence.” He stated, “The path of Swadeshi and self-reliance shown by him has become the guiding mantra of a developing India today. His ideals will always remain a source of inspiration for us.”
Majhi also remembered former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri, highlighting his pivotal role in initiating the ‘White Revolution’ and the ‘Green Revolution’ in India. “His contribution to establishing peace and harmony in the nation through the ideals of Swadeshi and a simple lifestyle is unforgettable,” the Chief Minister said.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo echoed these sentiments, emphasising the timeless relevance of Gandhi’s principles. “On this Gandhi Jayanti, we remember Mahatma Gandhi ji and his message of truth, non-violence, and service to others. May his ideals continue to guide us in building a just, peaceful, and inclusive society,” he said.
Paying homage to Lal Bahadur Shastri, Singh Deo described him as “a leader whose life was a shining example of humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the nation.” He added, “As India’s second Prime Minister, he led with quiet strength during some of the country’s most challenging times. His iconic call—‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’—continues to inspire generations, reminding us of the valor of our soldiers and the resilience of our farmers.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also extended her tributes, recalling Gandhi’s vital role in India’s freedom struggle and his enduring influence on generations.
“On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, I offer my heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation. I also pay homage to Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, who is famously known for the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’,” she said.
The leaders collectively underscored the importance of following the values and ideals championed by these eminent personalities in building a stronger, self-reliant India.
