Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi described the two-day visit of the President of Singapore to Odisha as a historic event that would have far-reaching impact on the state’s development.
Addressing a press conference at Lok Seva Bhavan, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of this visit in propelling Odisha toward its vision of becoming a prosperous state by 2036 and a major growth engine for developed India by 2047.
During the visit, the Odisha government signed eight major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Singapore, which set clear outcomes in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, urban planning, and skill development.
Among these, an MoU with Singapore’s Sembcorp will facilitate the establishment of a state-of-the-art Multi-Product Industrial Park in Odisha, integrating advanced technologies with sustainable practices.
Another MoU between Sembcorp and IPICOL will establish a green shipping corridor and a green hydrogen plant in Paradip, positioning Odisha as a leader in green energy.
Additionally, a master plan for Paradip’s development will be crafted through a partnership with Surbana Jurong, focusing on sustainability and renewable energy.
The Chief Minister also highlighted agreements to develop a modern city near Bhubaneswar and enhance the fintech ecosystem through collaborations with Singapore-based organizations. Efforts to build a globally competitive skilled workforce were further bolstered by two key MoUs with Singapore institutions, aiming to train youth in advanced technologies such as IT and semiconductors.
CM Majhi emphasized his government’s commitment to transformative change and noted the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya Yojana in accelerating Odisha’s development. He shared details of his recent roadshows in Delhi, Mumbai, and Singapore, aimed at attracting global investment to Odisha.
Describing the visit as a milestone, CM Majhi stated, “This event has laid a solid foundation for achieving our goal of a prosperous Odisha by 2036. With these initiatives, our state is now fully prepared to emerge as a hub of innovation, industry, and growth.”
