Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a significant hike in stipend for postgraduate students pursuing studies in government Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic colleges across Odisha. The move aims to encourage students to pursue careers in Ayurveda and Homoeopathic medicine.
As per the new rates, effective January 1, 2026, the monthly stipend for first-year PG students will increase by 55% to Rs 48,000 from Rs 31,000. For second-year students, it will increase by 62% to Rs 52,000 from Rs 32,000. For third-year students, the stipend amount will increase by 67% to Rs 55,000 from Rs 33,000.
Additionally, the stipend for house surgeons will be hiked from Rs 17,000 to Rs 30,000, effective August 1, 2024.
The CM expressed hope that this move will enable students to focus on their studies and provide quality healthcare services. Around 120 students pursuing PG courses in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy will benefit from this decision.
