Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a special outlet of ‘Boyanika’ inside the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that this special showroom of Boyanika will represent the dignity of Odisha’s traditional handicrafts outside the state and the country. It will help in spreading the word. He congratulated the departmental officers for this.
The Chief Minister also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasized the promotion of local products (Vocal for Local). Based on this visionary idea of the Prime Minister, this initiative will help to promote Odisha’s handicrafts as well as other local products at national and international levels.
It is worth noting that Odisha Handicraft has made its mark in the national and international markets as the epitome of excellence. Odisha handicrafts are in demand in the global market due to their excellent weaving styles and attractive designs.
The Department of Handloom, Handicrafts and Textiles has always been working for the promotion and dissemination of Odisha handicraft products. Odisha State Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Ltd. Boyanika is playing a leading role in promoting the handicrafts of Odisha in the global market.
The outlet has been opened at the security hall on the first floor of the airport for sale and display of nine GI-certified Odisha handloom products such as Kotpad Garment, Odisha Ikat, Khadua Saree, Gopalpur Tasar Garment, Dharapathar curtains & Garment, Sambalpuri Bandha Saree & Garment, Bamkai Saree, Habaspuri Saree, Berhampur Pat Saree & Phodakumbh Saree etc. And for the sale.
Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida along with Minister of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Department Pradeep Bal Samanta, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja were also present on the occasion.
Principal Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee briefed the Chief Minister about the handicraft products available at the sales centre. Other senior government officials were also present.
Passengers travelling outside the State and country from Biju Patnaik International Airport can purchase these GI-certified Odisha handloom products
It is worth noting that a special discount is offered to the customers in this centre for the next seven days.
