Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Trauma Care Centre and a new OPD building at the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) during his two-day visit to the district.
The state government has invested Rs 21.28 crore in the construction of the Trauma Care Centre and OPD building, aimed at providing immediate and specialised medical treatment to accident victims. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) building, constructed at a cost of Rs 2.53 crore, which will use modern systems to clean and sterilise medical instruments and equipment.
Addressing the media, Majhi said the rising number of road accidents has increased the need for Trauma Care Centres in every district. He emphasised that the primary objective of these centres is to ensure prompt and assured treatment for accident victims.
The Chief Minister said that within 13 days of assuming office, discussions were held with the Health Department, leading to a decision to establish Trauma Care Centres in all government medical colleges, district headquarters hospitals, and major government hospitals across Odisha. He informed that steps are underway to open 89 advanced Trauma Care Centres across the state, which will help reduce accident-related deaths and injuries while ensuring timely and quality medical care.
Highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Majhi said the inauguration of the new OPD building at Sambalpur Hospital marks another significant step towards providing modern healthcare facilities. He expressed hope that the upgraded facilities would greatly benefit the people of Sambalpur district.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
