CM Majhi Issues Stern Warning To Collectors: ‘Stay Away From Corruption’

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday issued a stern warning to District Collectors, urging them to steer clear of corruption and emphasising that the state government will not tolerate any unethical practices that tarnish its image. He was addressing the two-day annual District Collector–SP joint conference underway in the capital.

Stating that corruption remained his foremost concern, the Chief Minister said Collectors would receive full support from the government but would be held strictly accountable for negligence, inefficiency or misconduct. “I will not tolerate it at all if the government’s image is tarnished due to the corrupt practice of officers at whatever level,” he asserted.

Majhi expressed concern that even some young officers, including UPSC and OPSC toppers, had been found engaging in corrupt activities despite having long careers ahead of them. Reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance approach to graft, he noted that the vigilance wing was in “super active” mode and working aggressively to curb corruption. “Please keep yourself away from the shadow of corruption,” he urged the Collectors.

Alongside his anti-corruption message, the Chief Minister called on district heads to step up field visits, strengthen engagement with citizens and prioritise grievance redressal. He also encouraged wider use of technology for efficient administration and greater social media outreach to publicise government programmes.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Development Commissioner Anu Garg also addressed the conference.
