Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti for its 43 years of dedicated service to the people of Odisha, particularly in times of natural calamities and emergencies.
Speaking as the chief guest at the organisation’s annual function, Majhi highlighted the Samiti’s vital role in coordinating with doctors and hospitals to provide proper services to patients from across the state seeking treatment for critical diseases in major medical centres like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.
The Chief Minister recalled the Samiti’s commendable work during the 1982 floods, monsoon fires and the 1999 cyclone, where its volunteers’ hard work, sacrifice and service attitude earned national appreciation. He also lauded the Samiti’s management of the 500-bed Dharamshala in AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, and the 30-bed Dharamshala.
Majhi shared his personal experience of working with the Samiti during the 1999 cyclone in Anandpur, Keonjhar district, where he was involved in service and relief work as an active member of the Sangh. He credited the Sangh’s ideology for inspiring his dedication and sensitivity towards society.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Samiti’s support to tribal communities through residential hostels for orphans and helpless children in Paralakhemundi and Udala. He also acknowledged the institution’s efforts in providing education to over 1,000 students through the Baal Sanskar Dharma program in Bhubaneswar.
Majhi concluded by emphasizing the government’s mantra, “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhina,” and stated that their government follows the words and actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Samiti’s service work during Rath Yatra, Rukuna Rath Yatra and Joranda Maghamela was also acknowledged by the Chief Minister
