Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the overall law and order situation in the State. He directed the police administration to maintain tight surveillance on antisocial elements, troublemakers, and suspicious individuals across all districts to ensure peace and public safety.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the activities of certain motivated groups allegedly trying to tarnish Odisha’s image as a peaceful state, and instructed police officials to take firm action to prevent any disturbance.
Reviewing the situation in Cuttack, Majhi noted that normalcy is gradually returning, with the curfew lifted and internet services restored. However, he cautioned against complacency, urging police personnel to continue patrolling and remain deployed in sensitive areas to maintain stability.
Emphasizing the need to restore social harmony in Cuttack, the Chief Minister directed senior officers to hold regular interactions with community leaders to promote peace and understanding. Earlier, he had appealed to residents of Cuttack to cooperate with the administration in restoring calm.
Expressing grief over the murder of lawyer and social worker Pitabash Panda in Berhampur, Majhi instructed police to identify and apprehend the culprits at the earliest and ensure exemplary punishment for those responsible.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, DGP Y.B. Khurania, and Principal Secretary to the CM Saswat Mishra, among others.
The directives underline the state government’s firm stance on maintaining law and order and its resolve to safeguard Odisha’s reputation for peace and communal harmony.
