Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid homage to Shaheed Veer Baji Rout, the youngest martyr in India’s freedom movement, on his birth centenary. He along with other leaders including Speaker Surama Padhy, MLA Babu Singh and others paid floral tributes to his statue at the Assembly Hall.
Majhi wrote on social media, “Heartfelt greetings to Shaheed Veer Baji Rout, who created history by sacrificing his life for the country at the tender age of 12.”

The Chief Minister stated, “Shaheed Baji Rout’s sacrifice, dedication, and patriotism have a special place in glorifying Odisha.” A state-level Jayanti ceremony will be celebrated in the martyr’s village, Nilakanthpur, in Dhenkanal.
The Chief Minister will join the event, following a wreath-laying ceremony at Baji Rout’s statue near the Assembly, where Speaker Surma Padhy, MLAs, and other dignitaries paid their respects.
