Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi performed the Chhath Puja rituals with his wife Priyanka Marndi at the Kuakhai river ghat in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and wished for the well-being of the people of the state.
Apart from performing puja, CM and his wife offered ‘Arghya’ to the Sun god.
The Chief Minister, in his address, said that Chhath Puja teaches us that the true basis of life is nature, water, air, and the power of the Sun. Through this festival, we express our gratitude towards nature and the environment. Hence, we draw inspiration from nature.
The Chief Minister stated that one of the biggest highlights of Chhath Puja is its simplicity, devoid of any pomp or show, and instead, focused on devotion and spiritual discipline. This festival is a unique example of cleanliness and orderliness, which is at its core. While Chhath Puja is traditionally celebrated in North Indian states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister expressed delight that Odisha is now also celebrating this festival with great enthusiasm and devotion. He concluded by wishing for the state’s progress, empowerment of farmers, labourers, youth, and women, and happiness in every home.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including , President of Biswas Foundation Rajkumar, Vice-President Ajay Bahadur Singh, General Secretary Ashok Bhagat and Coordinator of Bihar Development Council Anand Mohan.
